Comments about Lillian Vernon Scrolled Wirework Dish Rack and Caddy:

I have to admit after reading some other reviews I was hesitant about purchasing this b/c of the price for one and not sure if it would fit my needs and how the middle of the rack is curved instead of flat, but glad I did!!! I just figured if I didn't use as a dishrack, I saw someone else mention of a bread basket, so that way atleast I didn't fully waste my money. But so far I love it..I do all my dishes by hand but suprisngly never have a completely full dishrack b/c I towel dry pots/pans and most plates after i wash them anyway..usually just cups, silverware and other random things I throw in the dishrack. I love the way it spruces up my counter and it defiantely brings a whole new meaning into washing dishes and drying them in style!! I love it and as long as you don't overload this rack you are fine. I will agree that the curve of the rack is annoying, all things slide to middle but so far hasn't been a problem and it is a huge spacesaver on my counter as suppose to the bulky rubbermaid one I had previously that just took up way to much room and was a complete eye sore!

I love this dish rack! It very attractive and absolutely perfect for my needs. If you have a dishwasher and just want something to hold a few items at a time that you wash by hand, then do not hesitate to buy this. I do not think this would be highly functional, however, for someone who is looking for a dish drainer to hold all of their dishes... it's more so for a cup here, a plate there.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Scrolled Wirework Dish Rack and Caddy:

Oh I just love the look of this BUT - since I don't have a dishwasher - and all dishes are done by hand (by my fabulous husband), function is imperative. It basically holds plates and bowls. No mugs or glasses or anything of any other shape but flat. Anything else has to sit right in the middle because it's the only close to flat space so everything slides to the middle. This has caused several chipped glasses when trying to balance a few in a "row" if that's what you can call it. If it's not plastic - it must be a plate or bowl or your risking it chipping or breaking. The flatware section is the worst - we have to put plastic cups in each of them with holes punched in the bottom so they don't have sitting water dripping and resting in the bottom. The reason is simple - the spaces are too far apart so all of my flatware falls through either all the way out or until it hits the counter. The cups work great but it looks tacky - ruins the whole point of such a beautiful dishdrain. Not the least bit functional if you actually wash dishes regularly of all shapes and sizes. But it is absolutely beautiful.

This looks great on the counter BUT really gets a failing grade for function. No drain board underneath, silverware holder too open so things often slip through, curved shape of main dish compartment limits use as items like glasses will all slide to the middle. There are no stops for the dishes so it is impossible to line them up on edge. Needs a serious redesign!

At last, a BLACK, attractive dishrack that is not plastic! It goes perfectly in my kitchen hue of red/black/roosters&wrought-iron. I simply use a dishtowel under it for drainage. I mainly use it for hand washable items, stacking cups/glasses off to the side. My other rack is a "Bamboo Behemouth" that shows wear&tear, taking up the whole counter. This one can also be used as a bread basket!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Scrolled Wirework Dish Rack and Caddy:

I have had this dish rack for a couple of years and I love the look of it, but the round design does not function well for all items. The most frustrating part of this piece is that the openings in the utensil caddy are too wide and spoons, etc. fall out. Also, on the other end smaller pieces, like cups, etc. fall out since that end is not enclosed. With young children and having smaller cups, etc., it does not function well for our household. I would not recommend this right now; however, if the design changed to accommodate these problems I would purchase a new one because it looks great!

I LOVE this dish drainer! We get compliments every time we have company over. I don't have the trouble that some other reviewers had with things falling through the silverware basket or with putting cups and glasses in the curved drainer - I just think about how I put stuff in the drainer and then it's not a problem. I used to hate hand-washing dishes because I hated the look of our old drainer while the dishes were drying. I don't have that problem any more!!! [...]Excellent buy!

I love this thing. Goes with my kitchen and pretty enough to leave out. Very durable, I've used for the last few years--would like the utensil bin to have smaller openings due to some things falling through, but other than that I LOVE this drainer. This a beautiful dish rack. The color is perfect with my kitchen design (oil rubbed bronze, dark wood and granite countertops) However, it is small and not completly funtional. We have a dishwasher... but there are always a few items that just need a quick hand wash and then some drying time in the rack. My dishes and glasses are attractive but other racks diminished their beauty, and looked messy on the counter. I typically kept my rack under the sink -- but that's not an option when the dishes are drying... This rack stays on the counter at all times. It's so attractive on it's own -- it looks neat and nice when it's in use and when it's not. It holds plenty, even a load of pots and pans. And is very sturdy.

Cons:

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Scrolled Wirework Dish Rack and Caddy:

I have had this for over a year now. I keep it in one side of my sink rather than on the counter. As another reviewer mentioned, the center rod prevents plates and other dishes from staying in place. Everything slips. Most of our dishes go in the dishwasher, but the rack is fine for drying oversized items. The rack looks nice, but the finish started flaking pretty early on. The weld points have rusted some also. The appearance is very tasteful, especially since it is black, but the finish quality and design flaw are a significant problem.
