Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

I bought 4 of these bags for my 4 children a few years ago. At that time, they had more camouflage colors to choose from. We have never used them for a backpack, but use them frequently when we travel on longer trips or just weekends. They have been great. The only con is that they don't really stand up very well. That has never been a major problem though. If you want something for little trips a few times a year, these are prefect and my kids love them.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

We had 2 of these that my sister bought my boys as gifts and only used them as weekend suitcases. We don't travel much and probably used them around 10 times and they both have broke in different places already. I contacted the company and they won't do anything about it. My sister normally orders from Lillian Vernon all the time but hasn't for awhile because of this issue.

I bought these bags for my nieces to use for overnight trips, slumber parties, etc and they love them. They have used them for over a year for overnight trips to Nanas, longer trips to their other grandparents 14 hours away, etc. This is NOT a backpack for every day use, but does work great for travel.

I loved the look of the bag when i first saw it i liked it so much that i bought one for each of my kids. When I received it I thought it was wierd that it did not stand up, but it was still ok. After one month of use the handel broke & is not fixable the bottom is not made very well because it had gotten holes very easily. Just not what i thought I was getting.I do not recomend this for everyday use maybe as a once in a while bag it would be better.

I purchased this for my 8 year old son to use for school in September. Well it is now October and there are holes in the corners on the bottom of the bag and it does not even stand up straight anymore because there is no support on the bottom. Very dissapointed. I will not recommend this product at all.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

We loved the look of the bag (trendy) and the size was fine for my 3rd grader. However, only 6 weeks later, my son said the handle broke on his bookbag getting ready to to depart school. I thought it would be something we could fix but its not. I looked to see other complaints. Kids love the look but if the quality isn't good, why are you still carrying the bookbag.

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

We bought 2 of the backpacks for the begining of the school year, so they are 3 weeks old. Both of them refuse to stand up straight. They fall over which is very annoying. It doesn't matter if they are full or empty. The bottom is not wide enough to keep the back pack up bc it is top heavy.

My second problem is one of the back packs is falling apart on the inside. The bottom has torn out.

They are however cute. If they fixed these defects I would consider buying it again.

Lightweight but hard to keep standing up
By momMRZVerified Purchaser from Hyattsville, MD on 9/10/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Fit for kindergartners, Lightweight
Cons:
Uncomfortable, Wears Out Quickly
Best Uses:
Books
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

The pilot case is the right size and weight for my 5 yo son who just started kindergarten. He needs a bookbag big enough to put some notebooks and textbooks, but not too bulky. My son loves the camou design. Unfortunately, unless I placed it against the wall, it's hard to keep it in a standing up position. The wheels are not big enough, and the handle is so tall, so the bottom back side wears off from being dragged.

I bought this for my son to use at school, he likes it alot. The bag looks bigger in the catalog then in person, but for a third grader it's perfect. I was disappointed that it does not also have straps so you can wear it on your back. So far so good, he has only used it for a week so I really can't tell you about durability, but I have purchased the large duffle bag for him last year for travel and that is huge and durable.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Camouflage Pilot Cases:

My son loves the blue camouflage bookbag. So far we had a good bit stuffed in the first day of school. My son is a 3rd grader and i'm 5 foot. Maybe not for taller children. Has many pockets, holds two water bottles, books and a separate folder pocket. As for wear and tear, I had a high end one(from another company)that lasted about 6 months. My son is a bus rider and seems to be extra tough on things.

I bought a pair of these pilot cases as backpacks for my daughters (11 and 7)because they were featured along with matching school supplies such as a binders, pencil cases, and lunchboxes. The case lasted one day for my younger daughter and three days for my older daughter. The supportive tubes both broke in half and for my older daughter, the handle also pulled off. I would not recommend this product for use at school at all.

I bought 2 of these for our sons who are 4 & 5 for an up coming trip to Disney World. The biggest issue that I have with them is that they don't open/zip all of the way around, so it's going to be tough packing. It really is too small for an older child unless they are going to use it as an over night bag.

I purchased this book bag for school for my daughter. She absolutely loved the style and the personalization. She has a very large trapper notebook and it fits with no problem. In middle school she has a lot of big heavy books, so I'm glad that she has something on wheels. I was however expecting it to be bigger. The width is good but I was expecting more depth. When we pulled it out of the box I said, "Your things won't fit." To my amazement her notebook and school books fit.

I bought this for my 3 yr nephew for weekend trips to Granny's house. First - it is adorable with lots of pockets. It isn't huge, but for a toddler, it's probably the right size. Unfortunately, I don't know about durability or cons yet, b/c it is a recent purchase. I will have to ask my sister to determine those, but it is cute and for a [$] gift on for a weekend bag that is a toddler size, it's worth the money. I bought this one b/c the little suitcase I have from the internet from another company, though adorable, the zipper broke and this one seems smaller, but with more pockets, but more durable overall.

I ordered two bags. Loved the many pockets for their "stuff". Colors are attractive. Only wish that the handle had a lock-down button like the grownup ones do so it wouldn't pop up so easily. Also, would like the wheels to be a bit more bigger so it wouldn't tip over so easily (kids tend to run with them). Would have liked the zipper to open all the way down all 3 sides like the grownup ones so things would be easier to see and get to in order to pack and unpack. And it looks bigger in the picture than it really is.
