Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

I wanted these to add a more polished look to basic wood deck stairs - unfortunately they don't stay on the stairs - they are slippery and fly out from under your feet when it rained or was icy. Not good for a climate that has so much rain - use with caution

These are not worth a dollar. Very low quality, thin and chinzy. They are slippery on the underside so as soon as you step on them they slide out from under you.

I purchased these for my 80 year old in-laws for their front steps. these mats slipped right off the step when my husband tested them. They 'look' nice but are useless for a safe step. I am very unhappy with this product.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

My black lab was having trouble going up and down the deck steps. These were just what i was looking for. We washed them and tacked them on the steps. Though hesitant to step on them at first, our lab quickly learned to love them! They were just tested after our first snowstorm and passed with flying colors! Snow can be easily swept off the tread providing steady footing.

DO NOT BUY!
By Former LV customer from Lawrenceville, GA on 9/3/2008
Pros:
NONE
Cons:
Hard to clean, Low Quality, Slippery
Best Uses:
NONE
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

The mats arrived with an oily film on them and instructions to clean them before use. Question-why aren't they cleaned before they're shipped?

So I cleaned them with soap & water. Still slippery. So I cleaned them again with a grease cutter. No longer slippery but now sticky with black stuff that leaves marks on the surface and the bottom of your shoes.

Never again.

Practical, with a great look
By Sherryburger from OKC on 8/31/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Bright, Durable
Describe Yourself:
Bargain Hunter, Practical, Stylish
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

I'm surprised at all the posts that say their stair treads slipped. I put mine on newly-painted steps (although I had put a non-slip additive in the porch paint) and have not had any problems with them slipping, even during a heavy rainstorm. They have been out all summer, most of the day in direct sunlight, and have not faded. Great value for the money, and I feel the steps are much safer for my family and visitors.

Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy To Clean, Easy To Install
Best Uses:
Outside
Describe Yourself:
Bargain Hunter, Practical
Primary use:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

Had the hardest time finding outdoor stair treads for Mom's newly painted wood stairs. So after seeing similar treads in high end catalogs for twice the price thought I'd give these a try and I was not disappointed. Washed them in soapy water with a stiff brush. Took a tip from another reviewer and used cup hooks to secure them in place and that worked like a charm. Can now be easily removed for painting touch-ups or whatever. A typical Maine winter will tell the tale for durability but after a month we are very pleased with the way they look and feel.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Filigree Stair Treads:

My front porch steps had a bunch of wear and tear on the paint job. We're actually getting pretty close to needing to replace the steps altogether. However, to save some time and money at this stage, I bought these. Sure, they don't stick very well, but that's nothing that some additional supplies can't fix. They look good and hide a lot of imperfections.

The treds are very nice looking for the money. The smell that comes with them is horrible! Even though the treds fit the stairs nicely, they do not stay in place very well. Perfect for backporch steps. Arrived with a slick ArmorAll type coating which quickly disappeared with use. As far as moving around on the steps, we placed two c hooks at the back of each step cooresponding with the mat size. We hooked the mats to those (similar design concept as car mat hooks). The mats dont' slip and can still be removed for cleaning or repainting of steps.
