I am so disappointed. I was so excited to receive it. My mom has one, so I knew how it was supposed to work. I burned the candles for one hour, adjusted the blades, took it apart and put together again, read and re-read instructions...could not get it to spin. Now having to do internet research to find a solution. Not sure I want to pay to return/exchange it.

I've been watching the Lillian Vernon website for a few years and waiting for these to become available again, so I was thrilled to see it on sale this month. A friend of mine got a similar one a few years ago, but hers is shaped more like a chalet with a roof than a carousel. This carousel isn't as good quality as hers. I certainly wouldn't call it heirloom quality because the pieces are very frail and the wood is thin. But these are really hard to find, so for the price I'm happy with it. The camel was broken off when it arrived, but I think it'll go back on easily with some wood glue. Overall, I was happy to find this available again, but I'm still hoping that Lillian Vernon brings back the previous design that my friend got.

As a little girl I remember taking this down from the attic every Christmas season...and hurrying to put it together. I was sad to see it out of stock on here, I hope you will be getting some more soon.I would love for my 5 year old daughter to have one.

I have been waiting for a couple of years to buy this when it went on sale and each time it was sold out. I was finally able to get one on sale this year. It just arrive and it is adorable! Remember these from childhood and always had the metal versions.
The cost of this makes it easy to bring this tradition back to the holidays
Be aware that it is fragile and may occassionally require some minor care or character corrections
,mine came with 2 Mary's at the manger but that was easily corrected with a little patience and glue.
Very worthwhile and will provide many years of holiday joy.

Repairing Nativity Carousel fins only take a little time and creativity. With a knife and 50 cents you can make the pins. For 50 cents you can purchase a doll rods from the lumber yard to make enough pins for 10 carousels. Use cardboard for the fins. Cardboard is no more combustible than the wood fins. Matching aluminum soda cans would also work nicely for fins. Use a regular scissors. [...]

I received this as a gift about 10 years ago, and it has been a favorite Christmas decoration for our family. However, the blades of the fan often fell out, and now 2 blades are broken and cannot be replaced. Without all the parts, it really doesn't work well or look as nice. I was hoping to replace the carousel (or at least the blades)- please restock!

We've owned this Christmas carousel for at least 15 years and it's become one of our "heirlooms". I bought it after we moved here from Europe because it reminded me of home. Although it is, at closer inspection, clearly a product of China, it is an incredibly good deal! It's not fine craftsmanship, but still decent construction (mine was, at least) and in overall appearance very similar to the expensive European versions.
Now I wanted to buy one for my son's house, and it's out of stock! What a bummer!!

We also first purchased this item 25 years ago, when my kids were little. It is one of those items that the kids list on the must have out/take out first category. We have given it as gifts many times over the years. With a nephew and oldest son getting married, I wanted to purchase one for each of them so that they could continue the tradition. I hope that this item will continue to be carried. I had wanted to purchase at least 3 right now to pass on!

I purchased this item from LV at least 25 years ago when my girls were little. Now my grandson's eyes light up each year when we unpack it. I can't wait for it to come back into stock so I can order for my girls to use as part of their holiday tradition. Only drawback is that the paddles have become a little warped and I'd love to be able to replace them. It would improve functionality.

I have had this product many years and it has definitely withstood the test of time. My suggestion for this product is to use the candles for decoration only and set the carousel on a table close to a ceiling fan. The fan will move the carousel without having to burn your candles!

I remember these from when I was a child.....They always intrigued me, so I bought it! I'm so glad I did. It's just so beautiful, and my kids love just sitting and watching it! I would definately recommend it!
The only thing is the candles burn quite quickly. However, you can find them easily enough in any store or on the internet. If you enjoy the carousel as much as I do, buy the candles in large amounts! :)

I bought 4 of these thinking all 4 would be gifts, but my husband insisted we "try it out" and now we're keeping one. Wish I'd bought a few more [...]!! My husband used up the candels in one sitting, so I went out and bought candels at the store and althought I had to melt the bottoms to make them fit -- regular, tapered candels work GREAT!

This really works! Not like the drug-store variety. Even the specialty shops don't sell these. I looked for about 10 years and couldn't find one anywhere.I bought this thinking I would take a chance on the quality. When it arrived me and my husband set it up to suprise our kids.The kids where so excited, we all waited for it to turn around but nothing happend until now its not turning.I was disappointed about it but we still have it on the dinner table and light up the candles during dinner time. I bought one of these from Lillian Vernon YEARS ago. It was a great value for a military income; however,I was concerned it would not hold up to all our moves. Nine major moves later it remains in excellent shape. In hot climates it was surrounded by an artifical wreath, in colder climates it was surrounded with evergreens. It is the Christmas item each child has asked for and this year I'm sending one to each of my adult children to share the tradition with their family.

I went to Germany this summer and saw all the truly authentic Christmas pyramids....they were hundreds of dollars each. However, I was excited to find this one at a bargain rate. It is really a nice quality for the price. Mine spins well and looks so cute. Such a great gift for someone of German heritage or anyone that loves unique Christmas decorations!

I absolutely love it! My mother in law had one, and i had to have one last year. This year i ordered two for each of my daughter's teachers. I am also thinking of buying another one for myself as well. It IS wooden, and with anything like that you have to take care of it. Its not for children to constantly touch. I haven't used it yet, but I did notice that the top piece's hole was drilled crooked and it wobbled a bit. Luckily, my husband could fix it and it works perfectly now. I bought a big box of candles so we can use it a lot.

This carousel is a copy of the German Pyramids you can buy in Germany. The name brand ones cost over hundred's of dollars. This one is very nice-I purchased it from [...] over 10 years ago and it is just like the one we had growing up. It still looks brand new and Christmas is not the same without it being out and displayed.To make it turn using the candle heat, you need to move the blades -all in the same direction and at an angle. You can make it go faster or slower depending on the way the blades are positioned. Mine works great. I am buying2 more. One for our son and his wife and one for a friend of mine.I get my candles at a German online store and I use glass candle drip holders. It isn't gaudy-it is a traditional German Pyramid and it has all the elements of the true Christmas story displayed on it.

A Christmas tradition for over 20 years, we light it after dinner and take a few silent moments to appreciate our many blessings. Buy lots of candles, since these are hard to find. TIP: the angle of the rotor blades governs the speed. The nearer to horizontal, the faster it turns. Taller candles may start a fire !

I bought this because we had one like it when we were kids and I loved watching it turn. I wanted to pass the tradition on to my son and light it on Christmas Eve. When I tried it I noticed the candles are a little to low to really push the fan around and the wood design doesn't make for a smooth turn. It is very pretty though and I'm still happy to have it as a decoration.

My mother in law bought one each for my husband and his siblings... his grandmother had one just like it. I think it's the gaudiest, ugliest thing ever... but my husband and kids just love it.

I've been unable to find candles to fit it anywhere else. And red candles? Impossible! Buy lots of extras!

We've had our Christmas Carosel for over 20 years. It is always a topic of conversation at our annual Open House and other Christmas Parties. It is the complete Nativity story, from Baby Jesus to the star that forms on the ceiling while it turns! We are giving one away as an Open House gift ths year!
Suggestion - buy candles elsewhere. The ones offered are very pretty, but they burn fast and are messy.

The carousel is really cute and my daughter loves it (which was the point) but I think I am going to have to buy taller candles...the "power" from the flames in not strong enough to make the fan spin consistantly. I think I will get taller ones and cut them to fit.
