Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

I am a huge nutcracker collector and was excited to find these in the catalog. I was SO disappointed when they arrived. Photo is very misleading, only 5, not seven. Paint is a little elementary, and diff. colors, not just red and gold. I am glad I didn't pay much...

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

Just got this set to use as a gift for my 9 yr old daughter who collects nutcrackers, and I have to say, I'm disappointed. One more example of "you get what you pay for". The picture makes it look like you could display the nutcracker open, but it's not possible due to the arm length and the sword. Mine came pointing down. I was able to pull gently back and forth, holding the arm in place and get the sword out to reposition it, but it's still not quite right.

The nutcracker's eyes look really odd, too.

I had to pry the first one open with a tiny screwdriver, then the second one won't stay closed!

All in all, they are decorative, but certainly not high quality.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

Even for a bargain hunter like me,this item is disappointing. The paint color is not as bright and pretty as in picture. It was so hard to pull them apart and put back together.[...]The edges around it was so rough,i couldn't let my daughter play with it without worry it'll slice her fingers.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

These nesting dolls are not meant to be kids toys, they are meant to be decorative items. As has been previously stated, they are somewhat difficult to open, the finish is a bit sloppy, the outer dolls arms do NOT move (I never expected them to), etc. I will say that in the picture I thought they all were dressed the same, but they are not. Each is a different color, all but the outer doll are in pastel shades - one rose, one pink, one spring green and one white. I was expecting all red or red and gold or something. They are still a fun decorative item, but I would not say they are a tremendous value even at the relatively low price I paid.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

I bought this as a present for my daughter, and another one as a present for her friend who collects nestling dolls. On both toys, the arms of the outer doll are cut in the middle. Is that intentional? Reattaching is possible, but some of the edges are rough. It certainly is not what I asked for, and I am not gifting them.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

I ordered two - one for each of my girls. They were very difficult to open. The arms look and are movable, but directions say not to move them. No directions on how to open. Picture is deceiving. Shows 7 whole dolls. There is only 5. Not recommended for small children, but not sure what an older child would use this for??? Luckily they were cheap. You get what you pay for and my children will enjoy for a short time.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Hand-Painted Wood Nesting Nutcrackers:

Extremely difficult to open. I will have to sand the largest one before I try and close it because the fit is that tight. The smaller ones were difficult also and took a hard twist to open. This item is frustrating to enjoy when it is so hard to open all the individual nutcrackers.
