Terrible product. The shadows are very small and the the rotation broke after one use.

This would have been great but the dome doesn't turn! Too bad! Would have been great on the porch on Halloween!
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
I am going to use this on my front porch on Halloween. I think the shapes are great, but only in small and dark spaces. The unit itself is very poor quality, if not handled with care it won't last too long, but cute idea.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
I'm not real happy with this item as I cannot open the battery compartment to put the battery in! I have tried everything and it won't budge.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
The light broke after the 1st use. It is very poorly made and doesn't create shadows 1/2 as nice as shown. Better to spend your money on other products.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
Poor connection so that the light works only when the item is held upside down and then carefully placed upright. Plastic dome is more fragile than eggshell.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
The quality leaves something to be desired. It is best used in small rooms otherwise the images get distorted. The only place this really works in our house is the bathroom with the lights turned off. My toddlers like to take "Halloween" baths now. I can't use it for anything other than that because all the other spaces are too big.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
"Durable Plastic" does not describe this. The globe is a light, thin, flimsy plastic that dents very easily. The effect would be much better if it spun slowly, but it does like 20 rpm, which makes it look lame speeding around the room, you can't appreciate the shadows. You CAN'T use this in a large room, the shapes blur together if they aren't cast on a surface close to the machine. The only way I got it to work was to put it in a small bathroom. It just doesn't work for what it claims to do and isn't worth it. It is a nice idea, if poorly executed. I would like to see a better version of this.
Comments about Lillian Vernon "Spooky Shadows" Light:
I found that the double images were because of the shape of the mirror inside the unit. It's parabolic in shape, and leads to double reflections through the frosted plastic dome. I removed the dome, painted the center of the mirrored surface white, and now there's no second set of shadows! Now we'll just have to see if it's bright enough to use in a dark Halloween display, or if I'll have to put a brighter lightbulb in it...
