This costume runs extremely small. My daughter is a size 8 and the size 8-10 dress barely fits. We cannot use the wig or the boot covers at all because they are so small!

The outfit is cute, but the wig is way too small. I even tried to put my daughters hair in a wig cap before putting on the wig and it still would not stay on her head. I recommend spray painting your child's hair instead.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Darling Daphne Costume:

Overall this is a cute outfit and our six year old, soon to be seven loves it. I did not like the bright neon, stiff wig with the icky bangs on her. It's too fake looking and looks more "retro" sixties look from movies or a fake futuristic look rather than the cute Daffney look. Our daughter is Asian, is very dark and this wig made her look too fake or was it too much stiffness. Maybe it can be washed gently first and restyled?? I didn't try this. The wig could be a little longer too. I'd rather see her wear a different wig if something couldn't be done about the thick & stiff look, mainly in the bangs. The boot covers are for slim children only and fit very well on our tall & stick thin daughter. For the money, it's a cute outfit but go up a size. If your child is heavier go up two sizes. Our daughter still thinks it's cute and wears it for play.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Darling Daphne Costume:

My soon to be six-year-old had her heart set on being Daphne for Halloween. We eagerly awaited the arrival of the costume only to find that the wig was a complete mess, enough so that my daughter exclaimed, "I look ridiculous!" Currently, I am trying to fix the wig by trimming much of the "bangs" and setting the wig with rollers to reshape it. Ordinarily this wouldn't be such a big deal, but the wig is a big part of this particular costume. If you are looking for an easy, out-of-the package costume, you might need to make another choice. Also, want to note that we bought the size (4-6) and my daughter wears a size 5-6 in regular clothes (and is pretty thin) and the costume just barely fits. She wears a size 13 shoe, and the boot covers barely fit as well.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Darling Daphne Costume:

Oh my gosh! What is up with the wig. The costume itself is adorable, but runs very small. The wig is nothing like the picture and is great if you are going as a clown. We are going to find an alternative for the hair, because my daughter refuses to wear the wig and I don't blame her.

my daughter is 6yrs old and a size 6. I got her the 8-10 size figuring it would run small. it runs really small. there is no way someone who is in the 8-10 size could fit in it. the boots are even skin tight.

Wonderful costume! My daughter has been wearing it everyday since it arrived two weeks ago. I heard it runs small. My daughter is a 5/6 so I ordered the 8-10 which fits her perfectly. Overall costume is nice, wig is precious, and my girl is all about town as Daphne and couldn't be happier!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Darling Daphne Costume:

This costume is not what I expected .. the whig is frizzy and doesn't look the same as the picture, it's shorter and curlier and has this weird curl poof thing for the bangs (not just curled under and straight like the picture) and the green scarf is not as long as the picture either, i barely have enough left to hang after i tie it around my neck (not that I have a thick neck either) but it's just not long like the one pictured.

Cute, but the wig is terrible!
By Mama KVerified Purchaser from Denver, Co on 9/5/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Lots of Fun
Cons:
Terrible wig
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Darling Daphne Costume:

The costume is very cute, but the wig is terrible. It sheds hair all over the place, little sticky strands of orange hair...it also doesn't look anything like the wig in the picture. We have decided to just dye my daughter's hair and style it instead of trying to use the wig. Other than that, the rest of the costume is great!
