Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

When I first bought this witch, she was a little hard to assemble, her hat would not stand up, and her broom completely fell to pieces. but, we had constructed a new broom for her and it stands out wonderfully. over the years, we got use to putting the witch together, and she is an amazing addition to my Halloween crowed. Her quality is amazing and the affect of her eyes at night are breath taking. Overall, she is a wonderful prop, and we will continue to enjoy her many years to come.

Looks great, but requires some TLC

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

Yes, the stand is pretty much useless; I use a long dowel twist-tied to a fencing stake. And it's definitely not weatherproof - I always take it in if it's going to rain. The materials are pretty cheap; the broom is not the best, and I had to stuff the hat to make it stand up. I've used mine (carefully) for three Halloweens now, however, and have had no real problems with it. I put a fogger behind mine with a green spotlight on the face, and it looks pretty amazing in the dark. Well worth the extra effort and care required to keep it in good shape; I'm tempted to get another one as a backup. The switch for the eyes (and the battery compartment) is in the back of the head under the hair.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

I bought this witch even though I read all the bad reviews. To be honest, I could not find anything else like it, so I took a chance. I can not find the on/off switch for the eyes. Can anyone help me? I laugh because how hard can it be to find that, yet I can not. Like the other reviews - the boom falls apart every time you touch it, as does the hair. I am still hopefull, and was under the impression I would need to do some fix-ups if I use this again next year. I am in the process of using a dowl rod (purchased from [...] in the Millwork area) for a stand. Someone suggested that in an earlier comment. We will see how that goes as far as a stand. If that does not work - this witch can sit very nicely in a chair. Either way, this witch is scary looking and should do the trick on Halloween. I have kept her inside and will put her outside on nice nights once I have a stand in place. In the meantime if anyone can help me with the eyes/lights I would greatly appreciate it! I would recommend this to a friend as long as they know the arms are wire, the body is styrofoam as well as the face and the hair/broom fall apart. It would be up to them at that point if they want to venture into this purchace or not.

I love the look of this witch. The dress, broom, hat and hair are very cheap material. I decided to replace the hair with a childrens halloween wig and a childrens witch hat from a discount store (overall about [$]). The stand is worthless, don't waste your time. After the first year I replaced the broom and her dress with items I bought in an after halloween sale for a few bucks. So if you buy this product, you should plan to replace some things or it will only last one season!

Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

Bought this witch last year with the "tripod" stand. It was poorly glued together & you could see glue everywhere on the witch. The stand was so flimsy that unless the witch was up against a wall, it would fall over. The eyes do not glow like the picture shows. They are tiny little lights that barely glow red. The black dress material was cheap and so was the broom. The whole thing was trash. Sent it back.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

I was very disappointed at the quality of the witch, in the picture on the website she looks very sturdy and well made, I couldn't even get her to sit up straight. She is made of mainly cloth and even though I hung her up by the toggle on her hat, her hat ripped, making her fall down and now her eyes do not light up. So I feel very annoyed that I spent so much money for two days of scariness. Her broom is very badly made, and falls apart every time you touch it.. also her hat looks totally different than on the photo, I am one very disappointed customer.

When the witch arrived the broom was all over the box, but Lillian Vernon was quick to send a new one, but the only problem is the bristles are so bent and bare on the stick that it was not useable. Witch brooms are easy to get during the season, will replace next year. Disappointed that the eyes don't glow as bright as the picture shows, but all for all though nice touch for Halloween. I sat her in a rocking chair.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

i was dissapointed to see that the witch was very cheaply made and packed. The hair was nothing like the picture and fell out all over the place, the broom did not fit together and was twisted in the wrong direction that made the stand fall over. It was a good price but i would rather a decoration that looks better

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

Traditionally, we set up my front lawn as a giant cemetary; I add new pieces each year, and get 200+ trick-or-treaters. When I saw this witch on the website, I was excited that she was soo scary looking. However, I am rather dissappointed that the picture I saw was not an accurate depiction of the product I received. My witch was rather crumpled when I got her, and the stand is really not stable. I will have to secure it when I station her in my front yard. I am also unhappy that she does not have much hair, nor is the broom as full as shown in the picture. With this said, I pride myself in being a creative, crafty person, and I am confident that with minor alterations and a bit more stuffing, she will look amazing under my strobe lighs. The price certainly was right!

With a little help the witch is a nice addition to our halloween decor. I used my Christmas tree stand since the stands were sold out. It works out great. It need a wig which wasn't too hard to attach. Glad it was only [$]. It certainly could not withstand the elements but is fine on our front porch.

Even with the drawbacks, I still like the witch and she looks good on my porch. She needs to be under cover or would not withstand rain or other weather issues. Took the broom bristles off and adapted with a nicer broom I already had from a witch costume.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

Unlike most I had no issues installing the batteries, all you have to do is look in the back of the head and the compartment is visible. Cloth is holding up very well, however, broom is falling apart. I did buy the stand and it works fine. This is the second season she is out on the front porch. At this sale price (30% off) I am picking up a second for my front foyer.

I bought this witch for Halloween 2006. It was my first "life size" decoration. I was pleased with this overall. Yes, it was crumpled into the box and had to be shaped and worked with to get the best presentation, but it is that way with most decorations. Mine was missing part of the broom prop but I just added one I already had that looked better anyway. I only put it out a day or two before Halloween and would not keep out in the weather. Great for the $, [...]

After reading all of the negative reviews about this witch, I was a little nervous when she arrived, but once I put her together, and did a little work on her, she looks AWESOME!! The only real problem I had was that her hat was all crumpled up, but I cut open a small area in the back and stuffed it to make it stand up, I sewed that back up and then for the brim of the hat which was crumpled up too, I used my needle and thread and sewed it upwards to make it stand off of her face. It took a little bit of time, but the end results made it worth it. All things considered, she looks very spooky, and if she lasts, I'll use her year after year!!!

First of all, this is a [$] decoration and I have seen comparable products for twice as much, same quality or less. Yes, it may blow over as will any of your Halloween decor if it gets windy enough. I secured the head to an OOK hook attached to my porch in case this happens. It looks good to me and my neighbors are all asking me where I got this, how cool it looks, etc. As far as the LED lights - the compartment is in the back of the head, just move the black material a little to the side and there you go! Not that difficult at all. I love my witch and I got the cauldron and that is cool too!

After I was finally able to get the batteries in (had to call the company to figure out where they go) my hands were covered in black paint residue. I then realized that my kitchen floor (where I took it out of the box) was also covered with this stuff. Spent at least an hour and two rolls of paper towels to get the floor clean. I can only imagine what would happen if it got wet. DO NOT BUY.

Looks Great, But Handle w/Care
By Halloween LoverVerified Purchaser from Cincinnati, OH on 8/31/2007
Pros:
Realistic, Visible at a Distance
Cons:
Difficult Set-up, Flimsy stand, Odd smell
Best Uses:
Indoors
Describe Yourself:
Halloween Fanatic, Stylish
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

The witch looks very realistic, and the glowing eyes are bright. However, it is cheaply made as noted by the previous reviewer -- definitely not worth the price I paid. She will need to be used indoors due to her lightweight materials and flimsy stand that falls over easily. The battery compartment is extremely difficult to locate and then fill with batteries. The witch will look great on Halloween peering out of our front window or standing on the porch if the weather permits. I'd recommend shopping around for a different, more durable witch for Halloween decorating.

Lightweight, spooky
Cons:
Difficult To Use, Flimsy, inferior materials
Best Uses:
Patio, under cover
Describe Yourself:
High-End Shopper
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Wicked Witch with Light-Up Eyes:

The batteries are in a difficult spot. The broom is flimsy and falls apart easily. The stand broke the first time a strong wind blew across the porch. This looks great at night with the glowing eyes but it really needs to be kept inside. The weather fades it quickly. The hat needs stuffed with material or it lies flat. This is a great idea but it doesn't hold up well outdoors.
