I chose this sewing box for a young beginner seamstress, mainly because of the charming sewing-related fabric design that was much prettier than what I found in stores. I decided on the large size, which provides extra room for storing the projects as well as the equipment. The advertised bonus of 98 essential items was a bit of a joke, since the count included each individual straight pin, etc., and all of this stuff could fit into one hand.
It was no problem to add a lot more of the basic items, at very reasonable cost, from the discount store.
The sewing chest arrived with one side of the interior liner completely detached. This had to be re-glued, as it provides the support for the notions tray. In the process of doing this simple repair, I added a strip of sturdy grosgrain ribbon under the tray, to make it easier to lift out. I also added a short strip of ribbon at each side of the lid hinge area, to create a stop that protects the top from going too far back and breaking off. The handle appears to be somewhat flexible and sturdy, but it will not stand up to any kind of excess stress.
The sewing box is light-weight, but somewhat more flimsy than the traditional wood-construction models. It will work very well for in-home use by someone who has no problem taking care of things. For anyone else, I'd recommend going with a plastic storage bin.

I have found this to be durable (maybe they improved it once they saw bad reviews). I am a non-sewer but needed something that will allow me to fix simple things for my family, such as reattaching buttons, shortening a strap on a sundress, etc. There are many thread colors and I can usually find a match or at least get really close, and there are lots of things I'll never use such as snaps and hooks. I did finally figure out at that one of the doo-dads was a tool to rip open hems - quite handy! Considering my previous sewing kits have been the freebies you get in your room at hotels, this is a treasure trove!

I was amazed at how large it really was. I expected the Large to be a medium and the Medium to be a small, but it was really LARGE. I am excited to add all of my sewing stuff, and know that it will all fit into one box. I was very impressed with the price and quality of this box. I would recommend it to any one who sews.

I received the medium sized box. I thought it was adorable (print)and had plenty of sewing products that came with it. Especially for the price, it is a great value. I even tugged on the handle, etc. to see how durable it was after reading the review from a previous customer who had problems. I had none. It is very durable.

The box arrived with the board that holds the tray already broken off of the side. The description makes it sound like it is full of stuff. It is full of little things that anyone could pick up at a fabric store in the dollar section. Yet, all things considered, it still turned out to be considerably cheaper than any of the other sewing boxes that I was able to find.

Easily breakable. Didn't even last a few seconds. After opening the box and the lid, part of it broke. PLus the way it is decribed sounds like there are so many products it in, when in reality, its not much. Poor Quality.

I bought the large box for my daughter in law. It is so pretty and delicate in design not quality. It has a substantial wooden handle. It is filled with all kinds of sewing equipment and has room for any she has. I would like one myself!
