gave a tea party for75 ladies.bought 8 of these and needed more.if u keep the box just take the screw out and tape it to the top and keep them in their box. i used clear plates and doileys on them and but ribbon thru the scallops and tied a bow they were beautiful. very sturdy.i am ordering 8 more to give as gifts . thrift stores always have the glass plates cheap.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

This is practical, lovely and sturdy. Am so glad I got it. BUT having said that, it does not "fold to store compactly" as advertised. Am disappointed about that! You do have to take out screws, which in my mind = disassembly, not folding. I did not expect plates to come with it, and it clearly states that. Have had this for about 2 years, and am still glad I got it.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

I bought two of these to use in our hospitality area for our church. They are great space savers on our crowded buffet area. I read the reviews, so I knew we would not fold them up to store. I also was able to find some plates that fit just fine in the rack. Every Sunday, people want to know where they can buy such beautiful and functional serving racks.

Disappointed because it does not fold

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

I was very disappointed to find that the way it folds up is to really disassemble it. That is not folding. Like the others said, you have to remove the two little screws. I put them back in their places so I won't lose them but I was looking forward to something that would easily fold (since it said it would) and I could easily use it and then store it. The description "folds to store compactly" is not true. I almost bought 2, one for me and one for my daugther-in-law. Now I am glad I only bought one since it is not as advertised. I wish I had seen the reviews before I bought it.

Okay for the price
By Value shopperVerified Reviewer from Long Island, NY on 12/27/2007

Low Quality
Best Uses:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

Yes, this "fold up" stand only folds up if you remove two screws, and dont lose them or it will be useless! I found it to be a little on the wobbly side, which is nerve-wracking when you are using it around company. No plates were included, but i had no trouble finding three plates in my house that fit it fine. Really for the price you cant go wrong, since crate and barrel and pottery barn, and other stores sell this similar item for upwards of [$]

Not "Fold-Up" but very functional
By Not Quite Martha StewartVerified Reviewer from Baltimore, MD on 12/15/2007
Pros:
Durable, Good Value, Space-saver
Cons:
Don't lose the screws
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

I actually bought two. I'm disppointed that they don't fold as described, but after removing the screws, they do fit nicely into my buffet drawer. Great for all my parties for serving desserts and snacks. Also works for holding stacks of plates. Flat plates do not fit well - best to use plates with rounded/curved sides. [...]

Good Value but Lacks
By BeBeVerified Reviewer from Humble, TX on 12/4/2007
Pros:
Good Value, Sturdy and Saves Space
Cons:
Plates NOT included, Remove screws to fold

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

The Buffet Stand is very sturdy; however, it only folds after you remove 2 screws...not too bad. I had assumed it came with the plates as they are pictured and the description did not say they weren't included.

Overall good purchase for the price.

No Plates Included!
By Haley from Chattanooga, TN on 11/30/2007
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

The picture of this product shows three white dishes and I was surprised to learn that they are not included. They should state that on the description! The price is good, but no dishes that I have fit, so now I have to buy three new dishes which will add to the price. I am disappointed in this product, but will keep it anyways. Returning this product would cost me more than buying the new dishes.

sucker

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

Was I the only person who thought the trays / dishes came with stand? I had never seen a three tier stand for sale that didn't come with the plates / dishes. Folds compact is a joke - sure if you unassemble the stand,it folds up - Just like me TV stand - if you take all the screws out of that the shelves fold up nicely.

not "fold-up" at all
By llVerified Reviewer from new york on 11/5/2007
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

if you need to take out parts i don't think you can call it "fold-up". much more cumbersome to use than the description implies. unfortunately, the other reviews weren't there when i ordered it. i certainly wouldn't have done it.

Nice

Pros:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

Item is nice and sturdy. Large enough to fit dinner plates on all levels. It does not fold down which is the only draw back. To collapse for storage you have to unscrew 2 screws and good luck not losing them after that. Otherwise, it is very sturdy and an attractive piece.

Misleading description
By TravelMomVerified Reviewer from Roxbury, New Jersey on 10/16/2007
Pros:
Good Looks
Cons:
Bad Value, Not easy to store
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

I love the looks of this stand and after reading the description which stated "folds up to store compactly" I decided to buy it. To my surprise, the stand doesn't fold up easily, you need to use a screwdriver every time you want to fold it and put it away. In my opinion, that should be mentioned in the description. It's not difficult to use a screwdriver but keeping track of the screws could be a pain... For that price, I would have found something similar somewhere else.

I love the looks of this stand and after reading the description that stated "folds up to store compactly" I decided to buy it. Wished I read this reviews before. I thought it would be easy to fold and store. In my opinion, using a screwdriver every time I use this stand doesn't mean it's EASY to fold and store. That's if I don't lose the screws by the time I need them...

Good but needs screwdriver to fold up
By DDVerified Purchaser from Naperville, IL on 10/11/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Cons:
Requires screwdriver
Best Uses:
For entertaining
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

Like the other reviewers, I was under the impression that this would easily fold for storage, which is the main reason I purchased this stand vs. others that I preferred style-wise. However, as others stated, it is fairly easy to remove the screws for storage. (Hopefully, I won't lose the screws.) But I probably would not have ordered this detail, despite the low price.

The unit alone is unbalanced, but with stuff on the shelves it balances fine. It was a little taller than I expected and doesn't fit where I intended.

Fold-up...not that easy
By Grandma LisaVerified Purchaser from Kewaskum WI on 10/4/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Bottom Line:

Comments about Lillian Vernon Iron Buffet Stand:

I "assumed" that fold-up was just a simple process...to fold-up you must remove two (2) screws! Assembled it is beautiful and it does flatten up nicely for storage but you need a screwdriver to complete the process!

I will still use it but may be inclined to keep it assembled and try to find a spot to store it.
