Just like everyone says . . . THEY SINK!
By VickyVerified Reviewer from Raleigh, NC on 12/27/2008
Gift:
Yes
Cons:
Leaks, Sinks in the water, Terrible bath toy
Describe Yourself:
Parent Of Two Or More Children
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

I should've read the reviews prior to making the purchase to save myself the aggravation of having to repackage and waste money on sending these worthless but cute boats back to Lillian Vernon. But you'd think that LV would take note of this product's defects and take it out of inventory. Terrible, terrible, water-logging and sinking boat that will only disappoint your kids and you. Don't buy it!

not really worth the money!!
By MOMMY0265 from Cape Cod, MA on 3/26/2008
Cons:
Fills with water SINKS
Best Uses:
Pool
Describe Yourself:
Working Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

These boats seem like a good idea but the fill with water and sink then rust. It was a waste of money and then a waste of batteries. Don't bother buying them, I don't know what they would make them able to fill with water. Since they sink you can't even use them in just as toys to play with, there horrible!!

Cons:
Leaks, Poor Construction, Poor Performance
Describe Yourself:
Grandparent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

Like most of the other reviewers, I was very disappointed in the boats. I purchased for my grandson who was upset when within one week the blue boat quit running completely. The remaining red boat was a dissapointment as well. After a few minutes in the water it sinks. Then it began rusting, including the battery case and had to be trashed. My grandson was disppointed becasuse his new toy did not work and I was frustrated to disappoint him and waste my money.

Cons:
Batteries easy to wet, Flimsy, Poor Construction, Won't float very well
Describe Yourself:
Professional, Working Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

The boat looked like it would be so much fun until we put it in the water. They did not float very well and water was able to get into the battery compartment (and who wants acid water to bathe your child in!). My four year old quickly became bored with trying to get them to work and after the first evening (after I discovered the water in the battery well) they were trashed. Wasted money.

This product didn't "float my boat"
By Disappointed Mom from Chicago, IL on 7/20/2007
Pros:
Cute looking boats
Cons:
Boats don't float, Metal parts rusted, stopped working
Describe Yourself:
Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

My 4yo son was excited about the look of these rescue boats but their performance was a disappointment. They take on water and won't stay afloat. The inner metal parts rusted, resulting in pools of rusty water trapped inside the boats. Even the battery case took on water which corroded the batteries. The boat then stopped working because the battery contacts were shot. The boats just don't function as intended. I would only recommend them if you plan to keep them out of the water and use them for "rescue play" on dry land.

Waste of money!
By Disappointed Mother from Atlanta, GA on 7/19/2007
Cons:
Batteries Not Included, Poor Construction
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

I would definitely not waste your time and money on this product. The boats did not have any power really and would go in tight circles until they filled with water and floated to the bottom. Eventually (after only a few uses) you couldn't get them to work at all. It seemed impossible to keep water from getting into the boats. It would fill up in the area where the batteries were and eventually rusty brown water started leaking from them. Not an ideal situation for your three year old! A huge disappointment. Even though they are inexpensive do not waste your time!!

Kids play with the boats every bath time
By AndreaVerified Reviewer from Atlanta, GA on 7/19/2007
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

I never put batteries in these boats because I figured that they would be played with in the water and I did not want to deal with prying open the battery compartment on a wet boat to constantly change batteries. I have had no rusting. Yes, the boats sink but my kids like that and drain them when they want them to float. For the price, the boats are fine and keep my two boys entertained. Have had these boats for two years now.

Wonderful product, but my 2 and 4 year old granddaughters are still afraid of the boats when they are turned on. They prefer them silently floating, which they do very well. Perhaps in another year!

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

Like the other comments, I was dissapointed in how long these boats held up. One worked better than the other right from the start, and that was not good, having two boys! We also had that brown water drainage which was pretty gross! They just didn't deliver the amount of fun we thought they would. Maybe needs a re-design. My kids love to play in the tub and we thought these boats would make bath time even more fun.

These boats were the biggest disappointment I have ever seen. The propellers work very poorly if at all and they take on water and end up in the bottom of the bathtub. So sorry I spent the money on them.

When I saw the boats on the magazine I thought oh what the heck. When I received them I was ver surprised they looked expensive and we bigger than expected. They are very strong to survive my godchild's hands. He is destructive with all his toys. I got him these boats for christmas along with other toys and the boats have won the battle their are still surviving. He uses them in his baths or even plays with them on the floor.

Kids love to play in the tub, thought these would be great toys. They took a ton of batteries which wore out quickly. While the construction was very sturdy, it was actually too heavy with 2 AA batteries to float! Very disappointed- threw them away!

The boats flip over on their side and sink. Construction is too top heavy. Better use is pretend play outside of water as they're very very cool looking.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

I knew my son would love these Rescue Power Boats so I got them for him for Christmas. The first time we used them they worked great! They traveled around the tub and turned when they hit the side. Continuous fun!
The second time, the red one sank. You can hold it vertical to get the water out, but once it happens it seems to do it constantly. It wasn't very long until the batteries ran out (and I used name-brand batteries).

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

The product idea is a good one and I liked the idea it came with two boats. Unfortunately neither boat lasted very long. We used them as bath toys and drained them of water after each use and they still rusted very quickly and ended up in the garbage after just a few uses. Also when playing with them in the bath they filled up with water as soon as they were put in the water causing us to drain them about every minute so they would run. I would not buy them again.

Not only does it seem odd to put a battery operated toy in the bathwater with my son, but the boats only briefly go in circles and then sink rapidly. If you're buying for the motorboat action - don't bother.

Comments about Lillian Vernon Rescue Power Boats:

I was so excited to find these Power Boats for my boys, even the colors were perfect! But I was so extremely disappointed at the immediate demise of the product. Rusty brown fluid started leaking from the boats within three uses. The boats don't really propel well, taking on water and sinking quickly. It just becomes plain annoying to have to constantly drain them. Even if you're diligent with the draining after each use, they won't survive more than a dozen baths. I am very disappointed in this product. Moral of the story is: You get what you pay for.

I ordered these for my 3 yr old twin boys. The boats look great and my boys were so excited to play with them but...the boats take on water fast and sink to the bottom of the bathtub. It takes awhile to drain all the water out and try again. My boys are tired of playing with them since they sink too much. They need to be SEALED better.
