While burgers are delicious any time of the year, it’s hard to deny that summertime is a great time for grilling hamburgers. The burger is the quintessential, all-American grilling food. While some might be content to just mash up a meat patty and throw it on the grill, why settle for ordinary? Here are five amazing recipes for grilling burgers. (Feel free to use ground turkey instead of ground beef):
1. The California Burger
Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the meat before making the patties. Grill as desired. Top with fresh avocado or guacamole, leaf lettuce, sweet onion and a tomato slice. Add a bit of mayo or ranch dressing if desired.
2. Easy Onion Burgers
Easy but delicious, these burgers are bursting with flavor. Simply mix a packet of dry onion soup mix into 1.5 pounds of ground meat before forming your burger patties. Try barbecue sauce instead of ketchup for even more “zing.”
3. Bacon-Wrapped Cheddar Burgers
Wrap each patty with 2 to 3 strips of bacon before grilling. (Make sure the bacon is pressed into the patty so that it won’t fall off.) When the burger is just about cooked, top with a generous slice of sharp cheddar cheese.
4. Greek Feta Burgers
Mix chopped fresh basil and crumbled feta into your meat before forming patties. Serve grilled burgers with fresh tzatziki cucumber sauce.
5. Hawaiian Burger
Add a few splashes of soy sauce to the meat before forming your patties. Serve grilled hamburgers topped with a grilled slice of pineapple and mango salsa or peach hot sauce.
