After over a year of heavy use (New Hampshire weather!), I have no rust at all (I have the pewter finish). It's good quality for the price. Of course you need to wipe it out once in a while, especially if you throw your snow covered boots in there. The fact that it really DOES hold water is the benefit - all that melted snow doesn't end up in your entry! It does get some scratches on the bottom due to the grit your shoes bring in, but that is to be expected. I doesn't bother the appearance a bit. Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: I bought 2, one for my foyer and the other for the back entrance. My house is very elegant and the wood floors are beautiful and I want to keep them that way. My shoe trays look beautiful and they encourage guests to take their shoes off without my asking.

Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: Although the design of this boot tray is a welcome addition to any foyer or interior space, the interior actually rusted after the first use. After cleaning it thoroughly, I decided to outlay $10.00 for a long rubber mat to place inside. Unfortunately, any water that happens to drip along the sides also causes rust. My recommendation is to stick to the less expensive, albeit less stylish, plastic version.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: We love this tray! We don't use it with wet footwear at all, so we haven't had problems with rusting or needing a liner. However it is very durable without being too heavy. It is a very pretty tray and I have had many compliments on it. I hung a pretty caramel colored wood coat rack above it and it has helped to keep my family of four organized. Great product for the price!

Best Uses Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: I would think this was made for wet boots. Well if you put wet boots in it the bottom rusts. Why wasn't it made with a liner! Doesn't make sense to me! Pros

Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: I used this product at the front door so all the winter slush and snow would be contained, and not all over the floor. Works great! Everyone uses it. Cons..if t his is your intention find a liner for the bottom; otherwise the sitting salt and water from boots and shoes, rusts and scratches the bottom. Looks unattractive. Pros

Comments about Lillian Vernon Handcrafted Metal Boot Trays: It discretely sits by the door leading from the garage to the kitchen, but large enough to hold all my family's shoes. I was surprised to read the review that stated it was flimsy. I have found it to be very durable. Pros
